The First Birthday Invitation
“They grow up to fast, don’t they? It’s already time for that first birthday invitation.”
“They grow up to fast, don’t they? It’s already time for that first birthday invitation.”
So how do you plan to celebrate this all important event? Certainly sending out invitations to a child’s first birthday is an all important task, but your party planning only begins with this task. It goes without saying that your infant doesn’t have any idea what all the fuss is about. This is a party for you, your family, and friends as well as an event to look back on when the birthday child gets older.
Who do you send the invitations to? Sit down and make a list of those people who have had the most involvement and influence with your child’s first year.
People you think will want to celebrate with your child and you. You may want to set the list aside and come back to it a few times just to be sure you don’t overlook anyone.
When sending out invitations that first birthday, there are some things you might want to include. One of the most helpful decisions you can make is your choice of a theme for the party.
Here again keep it simple and short. Some suggestions for that theme might include a teddy bear theme, Winnie the Pooh, princess, special boy or girl. Whatever theme you select be sure to include that information in first birthday invitation.
This information also can serve as an idea generator for your guests in their gift selection.
You should also include in your first birthday invitation a clear request that the invitee RSVP. This will give you a clear idea of just how many guests to plan for, the size of cake, and the gallons of ice cream you’ll need.
It is a good idea to give some thought to how the time for that first party will be spent. Your guests probably don’t expect anything to elaborate, but you should have some idea of how the time will be spent.
The most important activity that you really need to pay attention to is your recording of the event. This becomes an important record of future memories for yourself, your guests, and the birthday child. The use of still cameras and video cameras will allow you to keep the memory of that all important event for years to come.
Be sure to get candid as well as posed images of your guests and the birthday child. An extra thoughtful gift idea for those who came to the party would be for you to send them a photo of themselves and the birthday child.
Above all, be sure that you take time with your first birthday invitation and enjoy the event for yourself.
