“As the world of blogging has exploded, so has the presence of parenting blogs.”
Blogging is typically a form of online journaling. Some people maintain them individually while others have a group of people who contribute. Frequently people will dedicate their blogs to cater to a certain group of people or subject and this is where parenting blogs come in.
Experts estimate that in 2005 there were over 8,500 blogs and that number has expanded into the multiple thousands.
Since then blogs for parenting have exploded in popularity for both the individuals who write them and people who read them alike.
These blogs are all over the internet. All it takes is a simple search for the term parenting forum or blog to see results.
Generally to be termed a parenting blog all you have to do is be a parent and blog about your experiences, children, advice, or anything else that you see fit to talk about. These blogs don't really have too much in the way of specifications to qualify.
Many parents actually prefer reading these blogs over parenting books because they're on a more personal level with people. They can actually feel like the person writing has gone through something similar to them.
It's also a lot easier to get into contact with them if they happen to have any questions or concerns about any issue. As parents, we want to feel that others are going through the same experiences we are and these blogs showcase this. They also encourage interaction amongst parents.
You may have actually considered starting your own blog about parenting for awhile. A lot of parents say that chronicling events helps relieve stress and get through the day to day activities that they face.
Even if you do decide to start blogging with the intentions of just writing for yourself, if you begin talking about being a parent you might automatically get thrown on the label of being one of the many parenting blogs.
