Toddlers are new, active and curious learners. In the first year, different aspects of life are learnt through falls, bumps and relationship.
When a toddler picks up things and begins playing with toys, they begin to discover the purpose of that object and the development of an inquiring mind begins.
Discover Textures – Different household materials like feather, paper, cushion, rubber, sandpaper, cotton should be rubbed against the child’s face. Teach him to identify the texture that is being rubbed on his face.
Learn New Concepts – Place household objects under the chair and on the table. Let the child find the objects, this way he will be able to understand and learn new concepts faster.
Rhymes – Rhymes and lullabies should be sung with actions, this way the child will enjoy the rhymes better
Summer activities – There are numerous summer activities that will keep the toddlers entertained and joyous. For example fun in the sand, fun in water, fun with games and much more.
Educational activities – Popular activities like puzzles, coloring, blocks, will keep the toddler’s mind active.
Language activities – Introduce books which contain pictures to make learning words fun and easy. This way he will discover whole new words of familiar objects and the words that they are known by. Watch how fast the child’s vocabulary improves.
Read a story – Read a story that accentuates sound and funny characters. Note how your child reacts to the story; tell him to narrate the story.
Craft activities – Give your child a pair of old woolen socks and a plastic needle, teach how to pass the needle through the sock and fix colorful pieces of cloth and make puppets. This develops hand co-ordination.
Clay activities – Kids enjoy playing with clay and can go on playing with it for long hours. Making snakes is the favorite and simplest, as it can be rolled out into elongated shapes even by inexperienced hands.
Musical activities – Cover tins, cans, cardboard boxes with balloons, plastic etc and tie it tightly with rubber-bands. Different sounds will be heard as the child plucks the rubber band.
Toddler activities like bubble blowing, collages, and making necklaces with macaroni keeps young and mighty minds at work.
