Toddler Games

“Toddler games should be such that it develops skills in every toddler.”

Every toddler has its own pace of development.  If the toddler is not ready for the activities, do not worry, try again after a few days.

Peek-a-boo – Try this version of hide and seek. Hide under a blanket or behind the curtain. Your toddler will feel excited to discover you. It will enable your child to realize that just because she is not being able to see something does not mean it is not around.

Encourage your child to come closer by sliding out your hand from below the blanket and waving and pop out your head when she finds you. Swap roles and give your baby a chance too, to hide under the blanket.

Reading – Colorful books always attract toddlers. The time spend reading together will encourage your child to read stories and identify objects later on and build a good vocabulary and talk and express better. Asking the child to identify the red bus, or the Yellow balloon makes reading interactive.

Counting – Ask your child to select a picture and then cover her eyes. Once the eyes are covered let the child begin counting number from 1 to 10 in the meantime hide the picture somewhere in the room.

Incase the child peeks let the round be disqualified. This way the child will not only learn to count, but it will also instill honesty in them. Then help the child find the picture with some clues given by you.

Building Blocks - This will help the toddler to monitor control and lay down a strong foundation in math. Begin by piling the blocks and let the child break it down as they find great pleasure in doing so. Gradually teach them to build the blocks and thereby teaching them colors, shapes and a way of sorting.

Give them an option of building either a tall or a short tower. The act of tumbling down the tower will also help them understand its cause and effect.

Toddler games are always fascinating and improve their imagination, dexterity and co-ordination. It also provides the toddler will entertainment and will keep them occupied and ward off the tantrums that come due to inactivity.
